Support is available if you have recently been diagnosed, or are living with a life-limiting illness, and live in Basildon or Thurrock.

Our priority is to help you maintain independence and enhance the quality of your life, giving you the confidence to live as well as possible.  We want to support and empower you and your loved ones, providing information and helpful resources about local support networks and groups.

Following an individual assessment you will be offered support options that aim to address your needs and enhance your psychological, emotional and social wellbeing as part of pre-bereavement.  We want to encourage you to choose your own unique and flexible care and support programme.

Support from our specialist teams can include:

  • therapeutic interventions
  • complementary therapies (such as aromatherapy, hand and foot massage, reflexology and reiki)
  • creative therapies
  • group sessions to help with emotional support
  • signposting for financial advice
  • referral for special counselling
  • referrals to other Hospice departments to support you

Patient and family support workers for adults and children work together as needed in pre-bereavement support.
