Occupational Therapy The Specialist Occupational Therapy (OT) team work as part of the Integrated Therapy Services based at the Hospice. The specialist OT service can help by assessing: What you need to do (your daily activities) What you can do and what you find difficult Your environment and how to keep this safe The team can assess and refer for minor adaptations and standard equipment that can support a person’s daily activities. Additional occupational therapy services and opportunities include: Gardening Group Recreational Rehabilitation Referral criteria You must be aged 18 or over (although transitioning patients will be considered/accepted and assessed on a case by case bases), have a diagnosis of life limiting illness and have specialist palliative care needs. The service can be provided to patients at home, but will also assess patients within the St. Luke’s Hospice inpatient unit and outpatient department as appropriate. People who need support to cope with their disabilities and to reduce debilitating changes that may rise from ongoing disease may benefit from referral. The team may liaise and work in a multi-disciplinary approach with colleagues across health and social teams ensuring the appropriate use of resources, and to best meet the needs of individuals.
