St. Luke’s Hospice is joining charities across the country to celebrate the little things that make a big difference, as part of Hospice Care Week (6-12 October 2025).

The annual campaign, led by Hospice UK, shines a spotlight on the vital care hospices provide to people with palliative and life-limiting illnesses, as well as the support they offer loved ones.

This year’s theme focusses on the often unseen yet deeply meaningful moments that define hospice care. It also recognises the dedication of the staff and volunteers who go above and beyond to ensure that every individual feels respected, valued and supported.

Throughout the week, St. Luke’s Hospice will be sharing stories from some of their team on social media, offering real-life insights into the experiences of those who work at the Hospice.

At St. Luke's Hospice these moments might include a shared cup of tea, a favourite song played at just the right time, or simply a comforting hand held in silence. Staff and volunteers say it’s these gestures that bring peace, dignity and comfort at the most difficult times.

Melanie White, Director of Care and Quality at St. Luke’s Hospice, said: “Hospice care may be much more than many people think; it is, of course, about providing excellent, personalised care, but it's also about empathy and ensuring that every person feels truly seen, heard and valued. We know that even the smallest gestures can have a profound impact on those we care for and their loved ones. And it’s important to remember that our care is dependent on the support of our wonderful volunteers and many generous supporters. This Hospice Care Week, join us on social media as we share some of the special stories from members of our team, and we warmly invite you to share your own experiences of St. Luke's Hospice care too.”
