Complementary Therapy Complementary therapies are given to complement regular medical interventions and treatments. The Complementary Therapy Service can help treat symptoms such as; anxiety, pain and stress, depending on your condition. The Hospice has fully qualified Complementary Therapists, specialising in palliative care who can, in discussion with patients, advise which treatments are safe to receive. It is important to tell the Complementary Therapist about your medical condition and any treatments you’ve had or are having. They can make sure the therapy is suitable for you. The service provided includes treatments such as; Aromatherapy, Hand and foot massage, Reflexology and Reiki for both patients and their loved ones. Referral Criteria Anyone living in South West Essex with a palliative diagnosis, over the age of 18 years, who is registered with a GP can be referred. We are also able to accept loved ones of patients who are recieving care from St. Luke's Hospice. Referrals are accepted from any health professional and self-referrals are also accepted.
